COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - Victoria Gailey and Leah John carded matching 70s in Sunday's opening round at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational, pacing Nevada into third place on the team leaderboard.

The Wolf Pack duo, each of whom is coming off a 2021-22 season in which they played at the NCAA Stanford Regional, sits tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard, four strokes off the pace of Florida International's Karissa Kilby, who shot a four-under 67.

On the team leaderboard, Nevada sits at +3 (287), just three strokes back of Sacramento State. Freshman Gabby Kano had a strong collegiate debut round, carding a 73 (+2), while Anitra Khoth rebounded from a turbulent start (+4 after the first five holes) to play the remaining 13 holes at one-under and finish with a 74 (+3). Raesa Sheikh rounded out the quintet with an 81.

John and Gailey took differing routes to their one-under rounds. John, starting at No. 6, bogeyed her second hole before getting birdies at Nos. 9, 11, and 15 to get to two-under and a tie for second on the leaderboard. A bogey at No. 2 dropped a stroke, but she parred the final three holes.

Gailey opened with a bogey at No. 5, and was at three-over after a double-bogey at No. 12, her eighth hole of the day. But she steadied things from there, getting par on the next two holes before sinking an eagle 3 at the Par-5 15th. After giving one back on the next hole, Gailey closed her round on a run of three birdies over the final five holes.

Monday's second round will tee off at 8 a.m. in a shotgun start.
