Mountain West releases 2022 preseason poll

RENO, Nev. - The Mountain West announced the preseason coaches' poll ahead of the 2022 women's soccer season on Wednesday.

Nevada was predicted to finish tied for ninth in the conference with Wyoming, earning 34 points in voting done by the Mountain West coaches.

New Mexico, the 2021 Mountain West regular season and tournament champions, were predicted to repeat in 2022 with 11 first place votes and 121 points. San Diego State was picked second by the coaches while Boise State received the final first place vote and was tabbed third in the preseason poll.

The Pack collected four wins and two ties in conference play last season, accumulating 14 points for their strongest Mountain West performance since joining the league in 2012. Nevada returns eight starters and its four leading scorers from last year, including 2021 All-Mountain West Newcomer team member Emily Rich. Fifth year goalkeeper Kendal Stovall, who is currently second in program history in career saves with 335, is back in the net for Nevada.

The 2022 season kicks off with an exhibition on Friday against UC Davis at 1 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Season tickets are on sale now for just $25, which include admission to all seven home games along with an exclusive Wolf Pack scarf. Single game tickets start at just $5 and will be available for online purchase on Monday, Aug. 15. Click here to purchase tickets and for more information
