CLOVIS, Calif. -Â Nevada Women's Track & Field claimed its first medals of the 2022 Mountain West Outdoor Championships Friday in Clovis, as
Camrin Dolcini (Pole Vault) and
Nicola Ader (Long Jump) each made their respective podiums.
Overall, the Pack earned 15 team points Friday, bringing its meet tally to 20, placing it seventh headed into Saturday's final day. Saturday's action will begin for Nevada with the triple jump at 4 p.m.
Dolcini, the lone Pack competitor in Pole Vault, crushed her previous personal best of 3.80 meters, earning a spot on the podium by clearing 4.02 meters. The freshman was among 10 competitors at 3.82 meters, and she cleared it for a new personal best in her second attempt.
But Dolcini wasn't finished there. A top-eight finish already assured, Dolcini cleared the bar at 3.92 meters on her first attempt of the next round, as the field whittled down to six. With the bar at 4.02 meters, Dolcini, in her second attempt, cleared it to increase her personal best and move herself to No. 4 on the program's all-time list for the event.
Dolcini failed to clear 4.12 meters despite three attempts in the next round, locking in her bronze medal.
Ader, making her meet debut after sitting out the heptathlon over the first two days, opened the day with a silver medal, and eight team points, for the Pack in Long Jump. She hit an even 6.00 meters on her opening jump, sitting in the lead after one round. Wyoming's Shayla Howell would take over the first position with a jump of 6.14 meters on her second attempt, leaving Ader to chase over her final four attempts. Ader would end the six-jump sequence strong, with a mark of 6.09 meters on her sixth and final attempt, but would end up with silver as Howell topped the field at 6.19 meters.
Rayven Nealey would earn Nevada a team point with an eighth-place finish in the event. Nealey's top jump of 5.78 meters held up for a top-eight finish, and was just one-hundredth of a meter shy of seventh place.
Ader would conclude her day by putting herself into position for a second medal at the meet. She clocked a time of 13.80 in prelims of the 100 Hurdles, third-fastest, to qualify for Saturday's final.
Emily Costello had a strong Friday, qualifying for two of Saturday's finals. Costello opened her day by finishing her 400 Meters heat in 54.57, fifth-fastest and good enough to advance. She closed the day qualifying fourth for Saturday's 200 Meters final, clocking a time of 23.45, a personal best.
Rounding out the Pack's qualifiers for Saturday finals was
Carolyn Ross, whose time of 1:01.64 qualified her seventh in the 400 Hurdles.
