Nevada multi’s compete in day one of Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, CALIF.–  The first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational kicked off on Wednesday, which saw four multi's compete throughout the day.

During the day, the multi's were split into two different groups. Seniors Nicola Ader and Anna Maria Sommerfeld competed in Group A. Senior Hanah Smrt and sophomore Kate Kadrmas both competed in Group B. 

The first event was the 100 meter hurdles, which saw Ader perform well in Group A. The senior would finish in second-place with her time of 13.69. Her time was just off her third all-time mark of 13.61 she has at Nevada. Sommerfeld would finish the event with a time of 15.39.

In Group B, both athletes finished with similar times. Smrt and Kadrmas would finish the event with a time of 14.98. Both athletes would earn 844 points in the event.

During the high jump, Ader would earn another second-place finish. Her height of 1.76m would not only give her the high placement, but would also be a season best for the senior. Sommerfeld finished the event with a mark of 1.52m, adding 644 points to her total.

Group B would see both athletes earn 600 plus points in the high jump. Smrt would finish with a mark of 1.55m, this earning the senior 678 points. Kadrmas would finish the event with a mark of 1.49m. This would add 610 points to her score.

In the shot put for Group A, Ader would finish with a mark of 11.53m. This being just off her personal best mark of 11.59m. Sommerfeld would finish the event with a mark of 10.81m. Earning the senior 583 points. 

For Group B, Smrt would earn a personal best in the shot put with her mark of 9.72m. This beating out her old mark of 9.21m, and earning her 511 points. Kadrmas would earn 529 points with her mark of 10.00m.

Finally, Group A's 200m dash saw Sommerfeld finish with a time of 25.58, earning her 834 points. Ader wasn't far behind Sommerfeld with her time of 25.77. This time earning the senior 817 points.

Finally for Group B, Smrt finished the event with a time of 25.66. This giving her 827 points. Kadrmas would finish exactly one second behind Smrt and earn 740 points.

For the current point totals, Ader finished the day with 3,398 points. She currently is in third place in Group A. Smrt has the second-best point total for the Pack with 2,860 points. Sommerfeld is just behind Smrt's point total with 2,852 points. Finally, Kadrmas finishes the day with 2,723 points.

The rest of the multi's will finish up the heptathlon tomorrow starting with the long jump. Thursday will also see action from some of the distance runners at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
