LAST SERIES
Nevada (11-10) closed a seven-game road trip this past weekend, dropping two of three at Missouri State. The Pack avoided a sweep with a 9-7 victory Sunday, aided by a four-run ninth inning.
After dropping Friday's opener, 7-0, the Pack dropped into a 6-2 hole early in Saturday's contest. Nevada fought back to within a run at 9-8, after six, but two insurance runs from the Bears in the eighth sent the Pack to an 11-8 defeat.
Sunday, the Pack found itself down 6-2 early, again, but this time completed the comeback thanks to four runs in the top of the ninth, pulling out a 9-7 win.
vs. OREGON STATE
The Pack and Beavers will play two at Greater Nevada Field, home of the Triple-A Reno Aces, Tuesday (5 p.m.) and Wednesday (12 p.m.).
The Pack took two-straight from the Beavers back in 2019, when last the teams met. Each of those contests required extra innings, as the Pack took the opener, 8-7 in 12 innings, followed by a 7-6, 10-inning win.
vs. RANKED TEAMS
Oregon State brings a top ranking of No. 2 (Baseball America, March 28) into this week's two-game set against the Wolf Pack.
In seven seasons under head coach T.J. Bruce (2016-present), the Wolf Pack is 4-7 against Top-25 teams.
LET'S KEEP THIS TO NINE, OK?
Headed into Tuesday's series opener, Nevada and Oregon State have gone to extra innings in each of its past four meetings. The teams have split those four results, with each squad capturing a two-game sweep.
In 2018, the fourth-ranked Beavers grabbed wins of 3-2 (11 innings) and 8-7 (10), before the Pack returned the favor the following season, sweeping to wins of 8-7 (12 innings) and 7-6 (10).
FOOL US ONCE...
Judging by the Pack's season line score, it appears that opposing pitchers aren't quite fooling the Nevada lineup the second time through.
The Pack has scored 29 runs in fourth innings in 2022, its highest runs-by-inning total, followed closely by 28 runs in sixth innings.
This season, the Pack has gotten at least 20 runners across the plate in four different innings, also notching 24 tallies in the seventh innings and 27 in eighth innings.
