RENO, NEV. – It was a successful weekend in Albuquerque for the Wolf Pack, especially for senior Iesha Hamm who has been named the Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week.
At the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Hamm had an impressive showing in the high jump where the senior finished with a height of 1.83 meters. This mark earned Hamm a new personal best in the event, beating her old mark of 1.79m she set at Cal State Fullerton.
Her height was good enough for a second-place finish at the meet and also ties the Nevada school record. She now shares the record with senior Nicola Ader and former Pack athlete La Tijera Avery.
Hamm going into Conference Championships now ranks at the top of the MW in the event. The only athlete close to Hamm's mark is Colorado State's Jordan Lanning who has a mark of 1.76m. In NCAA Division one, Hamm is in a three-way tie for 13th place.
Hamm and the Nevada track team have now concluded the indoor regular season. Everyone will look to compete at the MW Indoor Championships next week from Feb. 24-26.
