ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The first day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational just wrapped up, and two Pack athletes finished the meet tying Nevada school records.
The first school record was tied by senior Iesha Hamm. The senior earned her school record in the high jump, where she finished second overall at the meet. Her mark of 1.83 meter beats her old personal best of 1.79m she set at Cal State Fullerton. Hamm is now tied with senior Nicola Ader and La Tijera Avery.
The other school record was broken by senior Naiah Boardingham. The eighth place mark of 6.00m was a new personal best for Boardingham. Her mark currently ties her for the Nevada school record. The only other Pack athlete to earn a 6.00m in the long jump was Beck Krupa in 2001.
There were also tons of personal bests by Pack athletes. In the 200m dash alone, there were three. Freshman Lillian Gregg finished the meet with a time of 25.38. This beating her old mark of 25.46. Freshman Kylie Burton earned a new personal best of 25.80, which beat her old mark of 26.35. Finally, sophomore Sarah Marske beat her old personal best of 26.35 with her new time of 25.89.
Other personal bests include senior Carolyn Ross who earned a personal best time in the 400m dash. Her time of 58.56 beat her time of 59.04. Junior Maria Milani earned a new personal best in the long jump with her distance of 5.58m. Beating her old mark of 5.45m. Finally, Kylie Burton earned another personal best. Her time of 59.61 was good enough to beat her old personal best time of 59.73.
The team will compete again tomorrow for the final day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. The vaulters will compete first at 8:30 a.m. mountain time.
