Gailey goes back-to-back with another fall title

Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational
Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 3-4
Tacoma, Wash. - Tacoma Country Club
Par 72 - 6,195 yards

TACOMA, Wash. - Nevada Women's Golf fifth-year Victoria Gailey made it back-to-back tournament titles Tuesday, completing a late comeback to force her way into a playoff before coming out ahead to capture the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational crown.

It is her second title in as many weeks, adding it to her Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic victory last Tuesday in Fort Collins, Colo. The title is also the third of her career (2021 BYU Spring Classic added to this season's two titles), the 19th overall won by a Wolf Pack women's golfer, and marks the first time since 2010-11 that the Pack's captured two individual titles (both by Lauren Hernandez, that season).

Gailey found herself one stroke off the lead entering her final hole of the day, the 185-yard, par-3 No. 3 at Tacoma Country Club. After finding the green with her tee shot, Gailey calmly sank her birdie putt to move to -3 and into a three-way, sudden-death playoff with Cal Baptist's Hailey Loh and Cal State Fullerton's Davina Xanh.

Gailey put a quick end to the playoff, sinking her birdie putt at No. 18 to win after one hole.

Leah John also turned in an under-par round Tuesday, coming in with a one-under 71 to give her a second top-10 finish this season. John (77-70-71=218) finished tied for 10th at +2.

Gailey's and John's rounds helped the Pack shoot a team score of 291 (+3) for the final round, and move up three places to finish third in the 21-team field at +16 (296-293-291=880). The finish marks three-straight top-three efforts for the Pack over its first three fall tournaments.

Raesa Sheikh and Anitra Khoth each carded a 75 Tuesday, closing their tournaments. Sheikh finished at +11 (74-78-75=227) and Khoth at +13 (76-78-75=229).

Gabby Kano came in tied for 36th among all players at +9 (74-74-77=225).

Nevada will look for a strong finish to an outstanding fall when it heads to Henderson for The Clash at Boulder Creek, Oct. 23-25.
