This Week in Wolf Pack Athletics

RENO, Nev. - This week's Nevada Athletics action features Volleyball and Soccer aiming to keep momentum going after Mountain West wins to conclude last weekend, while Women's Golf looks to conclude an outstanding fall season in southern Nevada.

Below is Wolf Pack fans' key to finding all of the action for the coming week (Oct. 10-18).

FOOTBALL 

Nevada Football heads off the mainland for this week's contest, visiting Hawai'i for a 9 p.m. PT kickoff Saturday night in Honolulu. The Pack (2-4, 0-2 MW) looks to snap its four-game slide, and pick up its first Mountain West win of 2022.

VOLLEYBALL 

Nevada volleyball is returning to the Virginia Street Gym for matches against Air Force and New Mexico. The Pack will face the Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. The game against the Lobos will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. 

The Pack is coming out from a split week against Colorado State on Thursday and Wyoming on Saturday. The squad suffered a 3-0 loss against the Rams, while the Pack took a 3-2 win against the Cowgirls. 

The squad sits in seventh place in the Mountain West standings with an 8-9 record. Kayla Afoa sits second in the kills category with 264 in the season. Gabby McLaughlin also makes an appearance in the conference ranking sitting in eighth place with 210 kills. 

Senior Andrea Alcaraz is also ranked in the assists and digs categories of the conference's leaders. Alcaraz sits in sixth with 562 assists and ninth with 222 digs. 

Freshman Jordan Schwartz continues to impact the net for the Pack as she is ranked fifth in the blocks category with 72 total blocks.

SOCCER 

Nevada women's soccer goes back on the road to face Mountain West standings leader San Diego State on Thursday and defending conference champions New Mexico on Sunday. The Pack are coming off a 2-0 win last Sunday against Colorado State at Mackay Stadium. 

Recording their fifth shutout of 202, Nevada collected at least five or more shutouts in a year for the first time since 2016. Fifth year goalkeeper Kendal Stovall earned her 13th career shutout, tying the program record. 

San Diego State has won or tied five of its last six Mountain West matches, leading the conference with 13 points. The Aztecs recently broke the program's attendance record last Thursday against San Jose State, drawing a crowd of 2,500. New Mexico, a 2022 NCAA Tournament team, defeated Fresno State and tied San Jose State in its last two Mountain West outings.

CROSS COUNTRY 
Nevada men's and women's cross country will travel to Santa Clara for the Bronco Invitational Oct. 15. This is their last regular season meet before the Mountain West Championships at the end of the month. 

Saturday will kick off with the men's 8K race at 8:45 a.m. (PT) and the women's 6K shortly after at 9:30 a.m. (PT). The Pack will also have men entered in the men's 8K open race beginning at 10:15 a.m. (PT). 

Nevada has traveled to the Bronco Invitational several times over the years; The women have seen the course 2014, 2019, and 2021 while the men have been just twice, 2019 and 2021. 

The last time the Wolf Pack saw competition was a stacked Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota, September 23. Sophomore Daniel Sayo captured a 20th place finish, the highest finish on either squad. The men overall took 12th, the women 14th.

WOMEN'S TENNIS 
Nevada women's tennis is headed to the ITA Mountain Regional Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. Oct 12-16th. This championship serves as the second-to-last fall tournament the Pack will be competing in this fall season. 

The last time Nevada saw the court was on home turf, finishing with a perfect record at the Wolf Pack Invitational. Sophomore Mariana Campino started off strong after coming off an impressive freshman season, being named Mountain West Freshman of the Year in an 11-4 record, as well as 5-2 in Mountain West play. Freshman Audrey Moutama made her debut as a member of the Wolf Pack, picking up her first wins of her collegiate career.
