COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -Â Nevada men's golf leapfrogged Wyoming in Saturday's second round of the Gene Miranda Invitational, firing a team eight-under to move into fourth place headed into Sunday's final round.
After shooting a team score of 290 in Friday's opening round, the Pack charged forward Saturday, besting its opening-round score by 10 strokes.
Peyton Callens led the way for the Pack Saturday, carding a four-under 68 to move into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Callens sits at 3-under, just four strokes out of the top five, entering Sunday's final round.
A.J. Lintunen and
Quim Vidal Mora carded matching 70s Saturday, giving the Pack three golfers under par for the round, while
Trey Davis came in at even par for the second-straight round.
Adam Thorp rounded out the quintet with a 78.
Connor Motherway, competing as an individual, shot an even-par 72 to remain at 1-under for the tournament.
Mitch Abbott withdrew in the second round, and is through for the weekend.
The Pack sits just four strokes off of second place, trailing San Jose State (-10) and Denver (-8). UC Davis leads the field at 25-under.
