Takaishi announces staffing addition

RENO, Nev. – Nevada women's golf coach Kathleen Takaishi has announced the hiring of Ela Grimwood as the program's new graduate assistant coach.

"I am excited to have Ela join our staff! Having been in a similar role this past season at Mississippi State the transition should be seamless for her," said Takaishi. "Ela is very hardworking and solution oriented and will be a great role model for our student-athletes."

A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Grimwood played collegiate golf at Mississippi State from January of 2017 to May of 2020. During her time as a student-athlete with the Bulldogs she competed in 18 events and posted a career-best finish of 11th place during the 2018-19 campaign. Throughout her collegiate career she earned multiple WGCA All-American Scholar honors, was a CoSIDA academic all-district selection and was placed on the SEC Academic Honor Roll several times.

Grimwood brings collegiate coaching experience as she spent the 2020-21 season as a student assistant coach with Mississippi State. During her year on staff with the Bulldogs she assisted with player development during practices and qualifying rounds, utilized Birdie Fire and player feedback to assist with practice plans and had a hand in the team's social media content.

Throughout her time at Mississippi State Grimwood also served as the Bulldog CARE Vice President, worked with the student-athlete development department in the Bulldog Experiential Learning Experience and served as an undergraduate teaching assistant in the psychology department. In June of 2020 she also worked as a learning support classroom assistant for Northcote College in New Zealand.

Grimwood earned a Bachelor's of Arts in history and a Bachelor's of Science in psychology from Mississippi State University in April of 2021 and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. She will be working towards her master's in history during her time at Nevada.

Nevada begins the 2020-21 season Sept. 19-21 at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
