HOUSTON, TEXAS. – After competing in the MW challenge early in the month, the Nevada track team competed in two meets on Saturday. One at Rice University which saw a new school record, and one at Fresno State which saw tons of success from the Wolf Pack's distance runners.
Rice Twilight
The Rice Twilight started off the day with a new school record. Senior Nicola Ader broke her own school record in the long jump. Her distance of 6.34 meters not only broke her record, but also earned the senior a second place finish at the meet.
Also in the long jump was junior Hanah Smrt who finished 16th with a distance of 5.58m. Sophomore Olaia Becerill finished just behind Smert in 17th with a distance of 5.55m. Lastly, Anna Maria Sommerfeld earned a new personal best with her 19th place finish of 5.48m. This beating her personal best by just .01m.
Ader wasn't the only one to change the Nevada all-time list. Sophomore Rayven Nealey jumped up to third all-time at Nevada in the triple jump. Her mark of 12.69m not only moved her up the list, but also earned a third place finish in the meet.
Also now on the all-time list is the 4x400m team of junior Lauren Green, sophomore Emily Costello, freshman Lillian Gregg, and freshman Raegan Gorzeman who moved to ninth all-time at Nevada in the event. Their time of 3:46.52 not only earned them the all-time mark, but also earned them a second place finish.
The Rice Twilight also saw plenty of Wolf Pack personal bests. In the 100m dash, senior Brooke Carson earned a new personal best of 12.37 and a 12th place finish. Hanah Smrt would earn an 18th place placement and a personal best of 14.77 in the 100m hurdles. The junior would also earn a personal best in the 200m dash with a time of 25.78. Freshman Serena Shimada also earned a personal best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.41.
Lauren Green would join Smrt by earning a personal best in the 200m dash with her time of 24.90. Lillian Gregg, who was 4x400m teammates with Green, earned a personal best in the 400m dash with a time of 57.49. Sophomore Shelby Garrison finished with a new personal best in the 400m hurdles with her time of 1:04.99. The time being .01 better than her old personal best.
In throwing events, senior Emma Dern would complete the shot put with a new personal best of 13.38m. This being the second time this season Dern has improved her shot put mark. Freshman Luisa Fischer finished the javelin with a new personal best of 39.62m. Beating her mark of 38.32m that was set at the Sacramento State Tri-Meet.

Fresno State Invitational
The distance runners traveled to Fresno and saw success throughout all the events, which included an all-time mark by one of their freshmen.
Freshman Tierney Wolfgram, who competed in her first track meet, moved to sixth all-time at Nevada in the 5000m run with a time of 16:44.15. She would go on to also earn a first place finish in the event.
Also in the 5000m was senior Lauryn Massic who earned a fourth place finish with her time of 17:42.28. Junior Alexis Melendrez would finish in sixth with a time of 17:58.93. Junior Kate Rye would finish in eighth with a time of 18:02.82. Finally, freshman Carley Legenbauer would finish the meet with a time of 18:13.31.
Some other events saw top times from the women distance runners. Senior Carli Corpus finished the 300m steeplechase with a time of 11:21.70. This was just below her personal best time of 11:02.68, and earned the senior a second place finish. Senior Stefanie Ortega and sophomore Tabatha Walford finished back to back in the 1500m run. Ortega would finish in fourth with a time of 4:35.10, while Walford would finish in fifth with a time of 4:35.18. This being a personal best for Walford.
Lastly, the men's team had five athletes finish in the top-10 in the 5000m run. Freshman Daniel Sayo finished in second with a time of 14:58.54. Sophomore Celime Garcia would finish just behind Sayo in third with a time of 14:58.70. Sophomore Carson Leavitt finished in fifth with a time of 15:03.92. Just behind him was sophomore Andrew Ribeiro in sixth with a time of 15:06.78. Finally, sophomore Alex Mendoza finished in ninth with a time of 15:12.54.

The track team will look to compete in the West Coast Relays on Apr. 30 just before competing at the MW Outdoor Championships.
