Men’s golf to conclude regular season at PING Cougar Classic

RENO, Nev. – The Nevada men's golf team will compete in its final event of the 2021 regular season this weekend at the PING Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament will feature the event's first 36 holes on Friday and the final 18 will be played on Saturday. The event will be hosted at Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah and play at a par 72 and a length of 7,142. This will be the Wolf Pack's first time competing in this event since the 2015 season when it tied for eighth place.

The field this weekend features 19 teams, but the Wolf Pack is no stranger to playing in large fields this spring season. Nevada will be one of seven teams from the Mountain West competing in this event, and with the conference championship looming next weekend, it will serve as a mini conference championship preview to see where the Pack stacks up against a large portion of the league. Along with Nevada, Air Force, Boise State, New Mexico, Wyoming, UNLV and Colorado State will also be participating.

Head coach Jacob Wilner will send his usual four including Sam Harned, Sam Meek, Brendan MacDougall and Trey Davis to be part of the official Wolf Pack lineup. Those four will also be joined by Peyton Callens in the lineup, who led Nevada in the team's last event, which he was entered as an individual in. Mitch Abbott will get his first taste of competition this season as he will participate as an individual and not count towards the team score.

Live scoring for the entire tournament will be available on Golfstat.com.
