Nevada earns three first-place finishes at Bobcat Invitational

AUSTIN, TEXAS. – The Wolf Pack track and field team ended their weekend at the final day of the Bobcat Invitational, which saw three first place finishes and multiple new personal bests.

Sophomore Rayven Nealey came away with the first top finish of the day. She earned a distance of 12.48 meters in the triple jump which earned her the best distance at the meet.

Also competing in the event was junior Gabby Fraser who earned an eighth place finish with a distance of 11.69m, and freshman Maria Varas who earned a 12th place finish with a distance of 10.99m.

Senior Nicola Ader earned the next first place finish with her height of 1.73m. Beating Texas State's Tina Douglas by .03m. Also competing in the event was junior Hanah Smrt and freshman Alisha Pawlowski who both tied for 10th with a height of 1.55m. 

The other first place finish was set by junior Emily Costello in the 200m dash. Her time of 23.95 earned her the placement and was only .02 seconds behind her personal best. The event saw seven other Nevada athletes compete.

Senior Lauren Green finished in 13th with a time of 25.00. This time being a personal best. Sophomore Anna Maria Sommerfeld finished in 20th with a time of 25.46. Freshman Lillian Gregg earned a new Nevada personal best and a 23rd place finish with a time of 25.52. Junior Brooke Carson with a time of 25.72 and freshman Kylie Burton with a time of 25.87 would both earn personal bests in the event. 

A couple of other Wolf Pack athletes earned new personal bests. Senior Emma Dern earned a new personal best of 13.13m in the shot put. Earning her a fifth place finish and beating her old mark by .25m. The 4x100m group of Rayven Nealey, Hanah Smrt, Anna Sommerfeld, and sophomore Olaia Becerril earned a new personal best of 47.68. Also finishing in fourth place in the event.

The Wolf Pack will look to compete in the MW Challenge, which will be hosted by SDSU on Apr. 8.
