– For the third time in her career and second time this season, junior shortstop
Lauren Gutierrez has been named Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

"Lauren continues to be a consistent presence for us," said head coach
Josh Taylor. "She anchors our defense and consistently finds a way to have quality at-bats every time at the plate. Her athletic ability allows her to be in the conversation for this honor each and every week."

Gutierrez hit .455 (5-11) in three games against San Diego State on March 20-21, leading Nevada to a 2-1 series win over the Aztecs.

Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run in the series-opening game on Friday. In game two, Gutierrez hit 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run, including the game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. In the series finale win, Gutierrez went 1-for-4 with three RBI and a double. Defensively, Gutierrez tallied five assists and four putouts throughout the weekend.

The last time Gutierrez tabbed Mountain West Player of the Week honors was on Feb. 23. Gutierrez earned her first Player of the Week award on May 15, 2018.

Nevada travels to Stockton, Calif., on March 25 for a game against Pacific. Then, Nevada heads to San Jose State for a three-game series against the Spartans on March 27-28.
