Box Score RENO, Nev. – A strong all-around team effort by the Nevada volleyball team led the way for a 3-1 win over Air Force on Friday at the Virginia Street Gym, marking the first win on the young season for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada improved to 1-4 overall and in the Mountain West. Air Force fell to 2-3. The teams will meet again on Saturday for the rematch at 1 p.m.

Brianna Souza recorded a match-high 14 kills to lead the Pack.
Sydney Petersen was a force at the net with a match-high eight blocks. Setter
Andrea Alcaraz had 34 assists. She and fellow freshman
Reka Monteleone each tallied four aces as Nevada had 13 aces on the day.

The Wolf Pack came out strong, winning the first set 25-20 and then going up 2-0 with a 25-19 win in set two.

But the Falcons clawed back into it in a back-and-forth third set that saw six tie scores and four lead changes befores Air Force eventually prevailed 25-19.

Souza recorded six of her kills in the fourth set and Petersen, along with Alcaraz and Monteleone, were huge at the net, combining for eight blocks in the final set, which Nevada took, 25-23.
