Nevada men's golf is 7th after Round 2 of Ka'anapali Classic

LAHAINA, Hawaii -- The 33rd nationally ranked Nevada men's golf team dropped two spots to seventh (-13) after a five-under second round Ka'anapali Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i on Saturday. 

The Wolf Pack fell two spots into seventh after the second round of the Ka'anapali Classic at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course. Kansas held steady in first at 38-under after firing a 22-under (262) second round. Colorado is second at 22-under (275), CSUN is third at 20-under (269), Connecticut is fourth after posting a 12-under (272) second round for a 19-under two-round marking, and Loyola Maryland rounds out the top-5 at 15-under after a four-under day. Boise State dropped two shots and fell to sixth (-14) after closing the opening round tied for first with Kansas.

Quim Vidal Mora led the way for the Pack during the second round, firing a five-under, season-low 66 to move up four spots into a tie for 9th at eight-under. Vidal Mora recorded six birdies and only one bogey during his impressive second round. He sits four shots back of first-place Carson Griggs (-12, 62) from Denver.

Peyton Callens posted an eagle on the sixth hole and four birdies in total but three bogeys and one double-bogey dropped him to one-under (70) for the round and four-under for the tournament to tie for 16th through 36 holes. 

A.J. Lintunen recorded three birdies, two on the front nine and one on the back-nine, but a pair of bogeys on holes 11 and 13 put him into the clubhouse at one-under for the round and for the tournament to tie for 32nd.

Trey Davis fell 13 spots after finishing two over for the second round. Davis is even-par and tied for 36th at the Classic after rounds of 69 and 73.

Adam Thorpe recorded three birdies on six, eight, and 17 but bogeys on one, five, 13, 15, and 16 dropped him to two-over (73) and nine-over for two rounds (t-71st). 

The Pack is back in action tomorrow with a shotgun start to the final round of the Ka'anapali Classic at 11 a.m. (PT).
