Q & A with Nevada graduate Laurent Garcin

Record holder with 72 career singles wins

Q & A with Laurent Garcin

Came to Nevada from Chateauroux les alpes, France.
Played for the Wolf Pack men's tennis team from 2007-10.
Garcin's 27 wins in the 2007-08 is a school record.
In his four years he won 72 singles matches which is tied with Moez Echagui for the most at Nevada.

How old are you and where do you live now?
The 31-year-old lives in Montreal.

What is your fondest memory or athletic achievement at Nevada?
Win against over top 40 Mississippi State at home. Individually: Beating the school record for most wins in one season at the WAC tournament at New Mexico State.  Assistant coach, Jay Stearley, dropped the Gatorade bucket on me!

Where are you now? Do you have a family, and if so what are they doing?
I'm single.

Have you had any interesting experiences in your life since Nevada that you would like to share with the Wolf Pack community?
I have developed an international experience as a tennis coach. I coached for one year in Sydney, Australia (met tennis legend Pat Cash there), two years in France, and now Canada. I took a break from tennis for three years and worked on opening a restaurant/hostel with my brother at our grandparents old farm.

What is one thing you learned while at Nevada that you have carried with you the rest of your life?
I opened my eyes to a new culture and new way of life. It opened my mind to the unbelievable diversity and magic of this world. I carry this curiosity with me. It also proved myself that I was capable of doing great things and gave me confidence to start my professional life.

Anything else you would like us to know about your life?
In this tough times, with the corona virus crisis, I am hoping that we will take this time to reflect and make drastic changes. Changes required for the survival of humanity.
