RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada senior guard Jazz Johnson was slated to compete as a member of the Mountain West team in the 3X3U National Championship scheduled for April 3-5 in Atlanta but the event has been suspended as a result of Covid-19 but may be rescheduled.  Johnson was joined on the MW team by Sam Merrill (Utah State), Justinian Jessup (Boise State), and Nico Carvacho (Colorado State).

Johnson earned second-team All-MW honors in his senior year helping the Wolf Pack to a 19-12 record and the team finished in a tie for second in the conference standings.  The Portland, Ore. native was the MW Sixth Man of the Year as a junior.

In his senior year he averaged 15.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and two assists per game.  He led the MW in 3-point field goal percentage at 41.7 and in 3-pointers per game 3.1 per contest.  Nationally he was 14th in 3s per game, 17th in 3-point percentage and 26th with 91 made 3-pointers.  He ranked eighth in scoring in the conference.

The long distance shooter made a 3-pointer in every game played this season and three or more in 21games in his final season. In 26 games he netted double figures.

At home in the win over Boise State he scored a career-high 34 points and made 8-of-12 from behind the arc.  The eight made 3s is tied for the second most in game at Nevada and in the second most by any player in the MW this season.

In his career he scored 1,563 points and made 256 3-pointers in 127 games.  His career average is 12.3 points per game contest.  He scored 823 of the points in his two seasons at Nevada with 740 coming on two years at Portland.
