RENO, Nev. – As junior Nicola Ader wraps up her indoor season in Albuquerque, the rest of the track & field team will begin the outdoor season this week at the Aggie Open.
The last time the Pack went to Davis, Calif. was during the 2016-17 season where they competed in the Aggie Open. Out of everyone on the current roster, only 11 Wolf Pack student-athletes were on the roster during that season, which includes senior Cora Gallop and junior Eliza McCall who competed in the Aggie Open.
McCall took first place at the meet in the 800 meter run with her time of 2:10.91. She has since earned a better time of 2:09.88 for her personal best. Gallop also saw success at the meet in the 2000m steeplechase. The senior earned a second place finish with her time 6:53.14. That time moved her into second all-time at Nevada in the event.
Sophomore Emily Costello had an impressive first outdoor season as a freshman as she topped three events on the team and made it on the all-time list for those three events. Costello moved into fourth all-time at Nevada in the 400m dash with a time of 55.33. The sophomore also moved into fourth all-time at Nevada in the 200m dash with a time of 24.17. Lastly, Costello moved into 10th all-time at Nevada in the 100m dash with a time of 11.93.
Junior Karoline Sauer who broke a school record during the indoor season also broke a school record during the outdoor season last year in the 400m hurdles. Her time of 58.42 earned her the school record in the event, but wasn't the only school record she was a part of. Sauer joined junior Lauren Green, Costello, and McCall in the 4x400m relay to beat the school record at the Mountain West Outdoor Championship with a time of 3:43.95.
The Pack will look to start the outdoor season on a high note from March 13-14 at Davis, Calif. while Nicola Ader will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championship on March 14.
