Gailey earns second team All-MW honors

First all-conference honor for Nevada since 2008

RENO, Nev. – Following a standout rookie season, Nevada women's golf freshman Victoria Gailey has earned second team All-Mountain West honors.

This is the first all-conference award for a member of the Wolf Pack since joining the Mountain West in 2012-13. It is also the first all-conference award for the Pack since 2008 when Melanie DeLeon received All-WAC honors.

Gailey put together one of the best rookie campaigns in program history, setting the single season scoring average record at 73.47 strokes per round. The previous record was 74.03 set last season by former student-athlete Celyn Khoo. In 30 rounds played this season, Gailey fired 11 of them at par or better, which also set the single season record. Her low round of the season was a 4-under 68, which helped her tie for fifth place at the Battle at the Rock.

The Oregon native led the Wolf Pack this season with 70 birdies on the year, which ranks in a tie for fourth all time. She collected five top 10 finishes, also ranking in the top 10 in a single season in program history. Of those top 10s she posted three top five finishes, including her best finish of the season, a tie for third at the Rebel Beach Invitational in the spring season.

Gailey joins four others on the All-MW second team. Five additional golfers, including the MW Player of the Year Abegail Arevalo of San José State, received first team honors. The Spartans swept all three major awards, winning MW Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year.
