RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's golf team is gearing up to head to Rancho Mirage, Calif. for the 2019 Mountain West Championship, which begins Monday.
The championship will be a 54-hole event, spread out over the course of three days from April 15-17. For a seventh consecutive year, the nine competing teams will play at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club, which has played host to LPGA major championships. Since joining the Mountain West, Nevada has earned three top five finishes at this golf course.
The field features nine of the Mountain West schools that sponsor women's golf with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV and Wyoming all competing against the Wolf Pack. Three Silver State Series points are on the line as the Wolf Pack tees it up against the Rebels, who are aiming for their fourth consecutive MW Championship.
For the Wolf Pack it will send the same lineup that it has played in its last two events. Led by freshman
Victoria Gailey, who leads the team in scoring average this season, she will be joined on the course by seniors
Chaithra Katamneni and
Kaitlin Collom, junior
Jenny Krause and fellow rookie
Danni Ujimori.
