RENO, Nev. - The Nevada softball team begins its 2019 season in California when it competes in the NorCal Kickoff round robin tournament, Feb. 9-10. The Pack will matchup with four California teams as Sacramento State and UC Davis split host.

Nevada is coming off its first back-to-back postseason berth since the 2006-07 season and marked the third season in a row having a .500 record or better. The Pack returns three All-Mountain West players in
Kenzi Goins,
Lauren Gutierrez and
Sierra Mello, losing the two big bats in
Erika Hansen and
Aaliyah Gibson, the current offense is fully healthy and ready to hit the field.
This trip marks the first of many for the Pack, as it competes in 24 non-conference, road matchups before hosting its first conference game at Hixson on March 16 against Utah State. During this stint on the road, Nevada will see tough competition with over five teams, either receiving votes in the USA Today preseason poll or ranked (Arkansas).
Looking at the field for the weekend, the Pack has met each of the teams at least once in the past four years with the most recent being UC Davis last year on March 8 in Davis, Calif. Nevada holds the series against the Aggies, 8-7 as well as the series with Santa Clara, 9-0. The other two teams, Sacramento State and UC Santa Barbara hold a slim lead in the series with the Hornets up 24-20 and the Gaucho's leading 12-5.
Following this tournament, the Pack heads east to Houston, Texas to play in the Houston Classic on Feb. 15-17.
