RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's golf team is headed to the southern part of the state to compete in its second event of the spring, the Rebel Beach Invitational.
The two-day event kicks off on Monday with the first 36 holes of the tournament, which is co-hosted by UNLV and Long Beach State. The invitational will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes from Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas. This will be Nevada's second trip to Las Vegas this season as it also competed in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown back in October.
This marks the Wolf Pack's second consecutive trip to the Rebel Beach Invitational as it placed 10
th a year ago. The field features 16 teams, six of which hail from the Mountain West so this will be a good test for Nevada to see where it stacks up in the conference early in the spring. Five of the 16 teams enter the week ranked inside the top 50 nationally, including two top 25 teams in No. 10 Arizona and No. 17 Virginia.
Takaishi will send the same five from the spring season opener last week down to Las Vegas to compete. Those five include seniors
Chaithra Katamneni and
Kaitlin Collom, juniors
Katy Rutherford and
Jenny Krause and freshman
Victoria Gailey. Gailey and Katamneni led the Pack last week in the spring season opener, each tying for fifth place at the Battle at the Rock. Krause also had a strong spring season debut, earning a season-best tie for 15
th place.
