This group has played an integral part in the rebuilding of the Wolf Pack football program. Nevada went through back-to-back losing seasons in 2016 and 2017 before rebounding to close their careers with consecutive winning seasons and bowl game appearances.
Last year, the Wolf Pack went 8-4, including a bowl victory in the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl over Arkansas State. In that game, two seniors being honored on Saturday in
Ben Putman and
Dominic Christian had breakout games in which they helped push Nevada to a 16-13 overtime victory in that game.
This year, Nevada contended for the West Division championship in the Mountain West, has a chance to win back possession of the Fremont Cannon in today's game, and, at seven wins so far this season, is headed to another bowl game.
This season, the senior class has stepped up and helped lead Nevada to a 7-4 record including rattling off a season-high three-straight wins. They helped the Pack knock off No. 24 San Diego State on the road earlier this year for the program's first-ever ranked road victory and defeated Purdue in an epic come-from-behind victory to open the season against the Power Five opponent. In the win over Purdue, senior
Daniel Brown had a career-high two interceptions including one in the fourth quarter that set up the game-winning field goal.
These seniors also helped push Nevada to a 3-1 record to open the season, its best start since 2014. One of those three wins came in large part to senior
Cristian Solano, who earned his first win as a starter leading Nevada to a 37-21 victory at UTEP. Solano led Nevada in that game with two touchdowns, 182 yards passing and 100 yards rushing.
