HOUSTON, Texas - The Nevada swim team wrapped up competition at the Phill Hansel Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23. The team put up 699 points, good for a fifth place finish.
Houston took the meet with 1,737 points followed by Rice with 1,144, third was Washington State with 913 and fourth was Tulane tallying 716 points. Nevada finished over Mountain West members in Colorado State, Air Force and New Mexico. It is important to note that the final scores include the diving events, in which Nevada did not participate in.
The 1650 free started the day off and
Caitlyn McHugh had the best finish for Nevada in fourth with a time of 16:51.57.
Alexa Markl finished 15th with a time of 17:19.77.
Next was the 200 yard backstroke.
Benedict Nagy came in first for the Pack, finishing 14th overall with a time of 2:02.73. Lloyd, with a time of 2:03.08 took 20th and Markl took 2:05.72.
Junior
Andressa Cholodovskis took the top finish for Nevada in the 100 free, coming in six overall with a 50.10,
Colette Berkenfield finished 13th with a time of 50.89. Another sophomore,
Ileah Doctor, came in 21st and
Josien Wijkhuijs finished 28th to give the Pack four scored times.
Wiktoria Samula, in the 200 breaststroke, finished fifth overall with a time of 2:13.24, good for an NCAA 'B' cut time while
Donna dePolo took seventh in 2:14.21.
Gianni Pitto finished 15th and
Alexandra Hartman took 24th. The final individual event of the night was the 200 yard butterfly and
Julia Adamczyk took 10th with a time of 2:02.40.
McHugh, Doctor, Cholodovskis and Berkenfield competed in the 400 free relay to conclude the night. The squad posted a time of 3:23.74 and picked up fourth place o secure the fifth place team finish.
The Pack are off until Dec. 7, when they travel to Hayward, Calif. for a dual meet with Cal State East Bay.
