RENO, Nev. – The Nevada football team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 and the day game against the San José State Spartans features the new Family Weekend, and a community effort to raise funds for the fight against cancer.
Nevada, which is 3-2 on the season, will take on the Spartans at 1 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. Early forecasts call for sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s, a perfect fall day in Northern Nevada.
The Family Weekend event allows for parents of University of Nevada students to enjoy the gameday experience at Mackay Stadium as a member of the student section, including running out on the field pre-game before the team. The cost for the ticket is just $15 by going to
NevadaWolfPack.com/promo and using the code PACKFAMILY.
In conjunction with Family Weekend, The Row is offering discounted hotel rates at the Eldorado and Circus Circus, starting at just $55 a night (Friday), $100 a night (Saturday) and $125 (Sunday). Guests can reserve their rooms by calling 888-288-1833 and using the code FANS19.
The Pack is also asking fans to go pink to #TackleCancer as part of a partnership with the Renown Institute for Cancer as part of the game against the Spartans. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink and help raise money for those affected by cancer in the Northern Nevada and eastern California region.
The Wolf Pack will feature a pink Pack script logo on the helmets, and coaches will wear a pink ribbon on the sidelines during the game. Cancer survivors will be on the field pre-game, forming a tunnel for the Pack run-out on to Chris Ault field.
Fans can grab one of 15,000 pink rally towels that will be given away upon entrance to Mackay Stadium, and are asked to consider contributing to a Miracle Minute at halftime to raise money for those affected by cancer in our region. Additionally, all students will receive pink beanies at the game.
"Funds from the game will help us with new technologies to improve care and meet ongoing needs of our patients in a supportive manner, addressing transportation and lodging," said Susan Cox, Director, Cancer Operation Services at Renown. "Join us at Mackay Stadium in pink to cheer on our Wolf Pack in dedication to those affected by cancer. Go Pack!"
