SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Nevada cross country travelled to Santa Clara and earned many new personal records at the Bronco Invitational.
The meet, hosted by Santa Clara University, saw a strong showing from the Nevada Wolf Pack men and women.Â
Finishing first for Nevada's men was Adam Sjolund who finished the 8k invite section with a time of 25:21. This became his new personal record by one second. Following him was Massimiliano Swenson who ran 25:38 and George Skivington finishing at 26:28.
Alexis Melendrez finished first for Nevada's women earning a time of 21:37 which was just one second behind her personal record. Next was Lauryn Massic with a time of 21:59 which is her second personal record break in a row. Katarina Stashyn took third for Nevada directly behind Lauryn with the same time of 21:59. Stashyn's time became her new personal record as well.Â
Nevada overall finished in 23rd place for the men and 17th place for the women. "We had a lot of people run really well", said head coach Kirk Elias, "the comradery was awesome."
Next up for Nevada is the Mountain West Championships in Logan, Utah on Nov. 1 where the women earned sixth place last year.
