Salem, Ore. - Nevada Cross Country continued the fall season Saturday, competing strongly at the Charles Bowles Invitational. Austin Key led the way for the men, delivering the program's first individual win since 2023, whilst the women performed well, earning a fifth place finish.Â
The women turned in a fifth-place team finish in the 5k, led by Natalie Roberts, who crossed eighth overall in 17:40.7 to record Nevada's top finish of the day. Aubrey Thompson followed with another strong outing, placing 17th in 18:02.9, while Marina Renna rounded out the Pack's top three finishers in 36th with a time of 18:28.4.
Nevada placed two more runners inside the top 55, as Samantha Tolotti finished 40th in 18:31.0 and Crystal Hernandez took 54th in 18:45.1. The Wolf Pack's scoring group helped secure the team's fifth-place finish in a competitive field.
Rounding out the Nevada performances were Skylar Bennett in 73rd with a time of 18:59.6 and Addison Phillips in 83rd at 19:09.7.
The men followed with an impressive second-place finish in the 8k, highlighted by Austin Key, who claimed the individual title after crossing first overall in 23:59.1. Key's win was the first since Daniel Sayo's win at the 2023 Mountain Regional Preview, and the first of his collegiate career. Nevada placed proved their depth, with four runners finishing inside the top 20, Cael Mattioli leading that group in sixth in 24:17.5, with Eddie Yunker taking 14th in 24:29.8, and Jett Leavitt placing 17th in 24:36.9.
The Pack's depth continued to shine as Dillon Walker earned a top-30 finish, placing 27th in 24:55.2, while Elijah Chavez followed in 38th with a time of 25:01.3.
Rounding out the men's results were Mateo Delgadillo, who finished 64th in 25:31.3, and Samuel Boedecker, who crossed the line in 26:06.0 to place 97th overall.
The Pack will return in two weeks for the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara.Â
