RENO, Nev. - Nevada Cross Country athlete Austin Key earned Mountain West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors, the Mountain West announced Tuesday.
Sophomore Austin Key captured the individual title at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Oregon, earning the program's first individual title since Daniel Sayo in 2023. Key ran a 23:59.1 at the meet, a personal best 8K time, leading the Wolf Pack to a strong second place team finish.
The victory marks another milestone in an impressive season for Key, who opened the season with a fourth place finish at the Saint Mary's College Invite. His win at the Charles Bowles Invitational represents the first individual victory of his collegiate career and continues a breakout start to the season.
This is the second Mountain West Athlete of the Week honor of Key's season and marks the second time the honor has been received by a member of the Men's Cross Country program.
The Wolf Pack will next be in action at the Bronco Invite, on October 17.
