Brittany Wiehe transfers to play for Nevada soccer

Spent two seasons at Eastern Washington

RENO, Nev. – After spending two seasons at Eastern Washington, La Mirada, Calif. native Brittany Wiehe will be joining the Nevada soccer team this spring. After redshirting during the 2017 season and seeing her first action in 2018, Wiehe will join Nevada as a redshirt sophomore to bolster the Wolf Pack back line.

Brittany is the younger sister of former Nevada soccer player Bryanna Wiehe, who played for the Pack from 2014-18.

"I am thrilled about the addition of Brittany Wiehe to our team," said head coach Erin Otagaki. "Brittany is a defender who will add speed, athleticism and a competitive spirit to our squad. I am excited about the impact Brittany will make in our program and we look forward to when she gets to campus in a couple weeks."

Wiehe was part of the Eagles' 2017-18 Big Sky championship team that made its way to the first round of the NCAA tournament. In 2018, she played 19 minutes on the pitch and helped the Eagles achieve a 1-1 record in the games she appeared in.

A product of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., Wiehe was named second-team Orange Country Varsity All-Country and a California State All-Star from 2016-17. She competed for the Slammers FC club team that won the 2016 Southern California Developmental Soccer League championship.

Wiehe decided to come play at Nevada because it allows her to compete at the highest level of soccer while furthering her education at a Tier 1 university. She is majoring in English with a minor in psychology and hopes to become a lawyer upon graduating.
