LOS ANGELES, Calif. –The Nevada women's tennis team dropped to 2-4 this spring after a 7-0 loss at Loyola Marymount (4-2) Saturday afternoon. The Wolf Pack will finish its three-match road trip tomorrow at California State University, Northridge.
The Pack was unable to secure a point on the day, beginning with the doubles matches where No. 52 ranked Claudia Herrero and Blaga Delic fell to the No. 22 ranked tandem of Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek 6-3. It was the first loss of the season for Delic and Herrero in doubles.
LMU clinched the doubles point on court No. 2 with a 6-4 victory over the Pack's freshman team of Melissa Huchet and Lili Fekete. Nevada now sits at 6-10 in doubles.
In singles, LMU came away with victories on the first three courts to secure the victory. Miroshnichenko, ranked No. 27 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, handed Herrero her first loss of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. The senior now holds a 5-1 record in singles on court No. 1.
The clinching point for the Lions came on court No. 3, where Siobhan Anderson defeated Delic 6-2, 6-4.
Nevada will finish its southern California road trip tomorrow with a match at CSU Northridge tomorrow at 11 a.m.
