Box Score RENO, Nev. - Nevada Women's Tennis began its three-match homestand on Thursday, taking down No. 70 ranked GCU, 4-2.
The Pack went to work early on with Amahée Charrier and
Petra Janigova taking the first doubles match over Amalia Suciu and Peyton Duckett, 6-2. GCU then tied it up at one a piece after
Silvia-Maria Costache and
Marlene Foerster fell to Bella Crossman and Gala Arangio, 6-3.Â
In a head-to-head battle with Dania Deaifiand Karina Hofbauer, the duo of
Kennedy Robinson and
Kariman Buqai clinched the doubles point for the Pack with a 6-4 win.Â
Foerster wasted no time putting Nevada up 2-0 after downing Hofbauer, 6-2, 6-0. GCU cut the lead in half after Costache fell to Arangio, 6-3, 6-2.
The next three matches went to three sets as the teams battled. Nevada got within one as Charrier defeated Crossman, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2. The Lopes didn't go away quietly, however, as Buqai fell to Duckett, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.Â
Robinson and Janigova took it to the very end of each of their matches, with the latter defeating Suciui to secure the win for the Pack.Â
Nevada will remain at home to face San Diego State on Saturday at 12 p.m.
