Box Score MORAGA, Calif. – Improving its record to 5-0, the Nevada men's tennis team remains perfect after a 5-2 victory at Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Jeremy Merville clinched the victory for the second time this season.
The doubles began with sophomores Julien Evrard and Kostya Nesterenko losing just their second match of the season on court No. 1, falling 6-3 to Damon Kesaris and Nash Vollenweider. The other two Wolf Pack tandems came through, as Augustin Delahodde and Peter O'Donovan tied the doubles play with a 6-4 victory on court No. 3, and Robert Margitfalvi and Merville clinched the point after an epic 7-6 (14-12) victory on court 2.
Singles play began with another victory by Margitfalvi, this one in straight sets on court No. 3 over Matthew Campana, 6-1, 6-3. The Gaels would come back with two victories on the top two courts to tie the match 2-2, but the Pack swept the remaining three matches.
Jonathan Aremon gave Nevada its third point with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 victory on court 5, and Merville sealed the victory when he defeated Chambers Easterling 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Delahodde wrapped up the day with a victory on court No. 6 to make the final score 5-2.
The Pack now boasts a 21-9 record in singles as a team in dual matches, and an equally impressive 12-3 mark in doubles. Nevada will look to improve to 6-0 when it plays at Sacramento State for its final match of the weekend tomorrow at 2 p.m.
