DENVER, Colo. – Freshman
Victoria Gailey led the Nevada women's golf team during round one of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Friday.
The Wolf Pack as a team carded a round of 307, its first team score above 300 in seven rounds of play this season. Nevada has some work to do over rounds two and three to move up the leaderboard as it currently sits in 15
th place in the 16-team field. Scoring conditions were not ideal, however, as just one of the 16 teams finished the day under par. Colorado State paces the field at 2-under, five strokes better than second place Kansas.
Gailey posted the low round of the day for the Wolf Pack with a 1-over 73 and enters round two in a tie for 11
th. She played a consistent round of golf on Friday, making 15 pars and one birdie. At 1-over par, Gailey is three shots behind Amy Chu of Washington State and Saga Traustadottir of Colorado State for the individual lead.
Senior
Kaitlin Collom recorded the second-best Pack round of the day with a 4-over 76. Collom also made a lot of pars during her round, totaling 12 and added a birdie on No. 6. Fellow senior
Chaithra Katamneni was able to avoid big numbers on her scorecard today but eight bogeys led her to a round of 78. She enters the second round tied for 63
rd in the 90-player field. Both juniors
Katy Rutherford and
Jenny Krause made a good number of pars during their rounds, but had a few big numbers on their scorecards as well. Rutherford shot an 80 and is tied for 79
th, while Krause's 82 has her in a tie for 86
th.
