Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Nevada men's tennis team (1-0) earned a 4-3 victory over the University of California, San Diego Tritons on Friday afternoon to start its spring season 1-0. The Tritons are ranked as the No. 15 team in division II.
The Wolf Pack's match at Point Loma that was scheduled after its match with UCSD was canceled due to rain.
After dominating in doubles play throughout its fall season, the Pack continued its success in its first dual match. Senior Robert Margitfalvi and freshman Jeremy Merville got things started with a 6-2 victory on court No. 3 over Marc Isaia and Naara Shin. Senior Peter O'Donovan and Junior Augustin Delahodde clinched the doubles point for the Pack with a 6-3 win against Sreeganesh Manoharan and Neil Tengbumroong on court No. 2.
Nevada needed three singles victories in order to take down UCSD, and it achieved just that. After Jonathan Aremon fell to the Triton's Richard Han 7-5, 7-5, Delahodde came through with a come-back 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory on court No. 6 over Sreeganesh Manoharan. A 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory by O'Donovan on court No. 4 would put the Pack one point away from clinching the match, and Margitfalvi was able to secure the win for Nevada. After losing the first set, the senior came back on court No. 3 to defeat Marc Isaia 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-2 to give the Pack its first win of the spring.
Nevada will be back in action on Sunday, playing at UC Riverside before getting a week off of matches. Follow the team on Twitter @WolfPackMTennis to keep up with the team the rest of the spring season.
