RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada women's soccer team (1-7-0) will begin Mountain West play when it plays at San Diego State (3-5-0) and at New Mexico (5-3-0) this Friday and Sunday. With non-conference play over, UNM ranks fourth in the MW in wins and SDSU sits at 10th.
The Pack will go into conference play with its two goalkeepers piling up 50 saves, the most among MW opponents. Together, Lauryn Horstdaniel and freshman Jamie Flynn are leading the MW averaging 6.25 saves a game.
Nevada will look to get production out of its freshmen, who have seen a lot of action on the pitch this season. Rachel Gensch currently leads the team with two goals and has logged 320 minutes on the pitch. Rylie West has been very reliable for the Pack, playing the full 90 minutes in Nevada's last four matches and totaling 480 so far. Tiana Ono leads all Wolf Pack freshmen with 545 minutes.
Junior Rylee Peterson currently leads Nevada with 14 shots this season and two assists. Gensch and Lauren Woodyard lead the team with six shots on goal each.
SDSU has only recorded five more shots than the Pack and only one more shot on goal with a 41-40 advantage. UNM will present a tough challenge defensively for Nevada, as they have scored 11 goals this year on 149 shots through eight games.
Both games will be livestreamed on the MW Network. Get your tickets for the rest of the Wolf Pack's home games today by calling (775) 348-PACK or visiting NevadaWolfPack.com.
