Box Score RENO, Nev. – Grand Canyon University (2-3-0) defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack (1-3-0) by a score of 2-0 on Friday afternoon in the Northern Arizona Tournament. The Pack will face NAU on Sunday in Flagstaff at 1 p.m.
Nevada shot the ball 10 times in the match, compared to Grand Canyon's 16 shots. Lauryn Horstdaniel recorded a game-high seven saves for the Wolf Pack, making her total 26 for the season.
The match was delayed eight minutes in due to lighting, but resumed half an hour later.
In the 25th minute, Grand Canyon's Milla Benedetti shot it six yards outside the box and put the ball into the bottom right corner to give the Lopes a 1-0 lead. They would extend their lead 68 minutes in when Mckenzie Cook put one in the back of the net from 18 yards out.
The Wolf Pack had a couple chances to score, putting six of its 10 shots on goal. Junior Bryanna Wiehe lead the Pack with two shots on goal, and Rylee Peterson, Lauryn Woodyard, Olivia Torres and Analyse Talavera each added one of their own. Wiehe, Peterson and freshman Rylie West each had two total shots.
