FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Nevada swimming and diving team completed the second day of the Husky Invite with a set of season best performances in the pool as the Wolf Pack remains in the top spot. Heading into the final day of competition, Nevada will hold a dominating lead over second place with a total of 1,045 points through the first two days.
It was another strong start for Nevada as the Pack's A team that featured a member of every class took the top stop in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.39, which is Nevada's best time on the year in this event. Nevada's B team placed second in the same event, after swimming a 1:43.55.
For the second time in as many days, sophomore
Andressa Cholodovskis set a Husky Invite record, this time coming in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming the event in 1:47.30, which is the top time in the Mountain West. She was followed by two of her teammates that place in the top five of the event as sophomore
Diana Sokolowska (1:48.85) finished in second, while junior
Rebecca Murray (1:49.68) placed fifth.
In the 400-yard IM, freshman
Donna dePolo finished second in the prelims with a time of 4:22.54, a season best mark, while her freshman counterpart
Alexandra Hartman recorded a 4:25.78 and finished sixth. Hartman's time in the event is also her best so far this season.
As the only member of Nevada to place in the top eight of the A final in the 100-yard butterfly, senior
Emma Payne placed sixth in the event with a time of 54.98, which is a season low for her. In the 100-yard breaststroke, dePolo finished in second, swimming the event in 1:02.35 and junior
Jamie Reynolds placed eighth with a time of 1:04.42, a season best mark for her as well.
Senior
Jaeger Turner recorded another top three finish as she placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time 54.64. She was followed by senior
Kate Hofmeyer, who placed third in the event with a mark of 54.76, just shy of her career best time.
The Pack ended the day with a win in the 800-yard freestyle relay as the A team took the top spot with a season-best time of 7:21.37 Nevada will be back in the pool on Sunday, Dec. 3 for the final day of the Husky Invite, where the Pack will compete for the final time this semester.
