Nevada to host two more conference matches in Mackay this weekend

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada women's soccer team (1-11-0, 0-4-0 MW) will be back in Mackay this weekend when it battles Mountain West opponents Wyoming (6-4-2, 2-1-1 MW) and Colorado State (2-6-4, 0-2-2 MW). The Wolf Pack is looking to rebound from two tough overtime losses last weekend against Air Force and Colorado College.

"We love playing at home," said head coach Erin Otagaki. "The crowd brings us energy so we're hoping that our fans show up and cheer us on as we battle two good teams this weekend."

In its loss to Air Force last Friday, Nevada's Rachel Gensch scored her team-leading third goal of the season. The freshman's equalizer came in the 65th minute of the match, helping to force overtime.

Goalkeeper Lauryn Horstdaniel was dominant on Sunday against Colorado College, making 13 saves which tied for third-most in Nevada history for saves in a match and had not been done since 2003. The junior finished the weekend with 24 saves and, along with freshman Jamie Flynn, ranks 13th in the NCAA with 7.25 saves per game.

Gensch and junior Rylee Peterson are tied for the most shots on the team this season with 19 apiece, and Gensch's 10 on goal leads the Wolf Pack. Defender Bryanna Wiehe has yet to step off the pitch this year, playing all 1,117 minutes of Nevada's season thus far.

Both Wyoming and Colorado State come to Mackay having scored 16 goals at a clip of 1.33 per match. Both schools will have to try and score on Horstdaniel, who leads the Mountain West with 37 saves in conference play this season.

Both matches this weekend will be livestreamed on the MW Network. Get your tickets for this weekend's home games today by calling (775) 348-PACK or by visiting NevadaWolfPack.com.
