RENO, Nev. – Sophomore wide receiver McLane Mannix has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week after having a career-day in Nevada’s 72-19 victory Friday over Portland State. The Midland, Texas native hauled in four catches for 132 yards and a single-game career-high three touchdowns.
Mannix was a large component of the Pack’s 72 point outburst, which was the second-most ever scored in Mackay Stadium’s history.
In the first multi-touchdown game of his career, Mannix gave the Pack its first offensive score of the season in the second quarter. Deadlocked at 9-9, quarterback Ty Gangi found Mannix deep for a 58-yard score to take the lead.
The sophomore scored again in the second quarter on an 18-yard pitch and catch, and his third touchdown came on a 47-yard strike from Gangi in the third frame.
Mannix went over the century mark in receiving yards for the fourth time in his career on Friday. His 132 yards ranked sixth in the Mountain West.
