Nevada track and field sophomore Nicola Ader has been named this week’s Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week. Ader earned a gold medal in the high jump at last weekend’s Mountain West Outdoor Championships.
The native of Affolterbach, Germany took home the gold in the high jump with a mark of 5’ 8.75” (1.75 meter), just months after winning the event at the indoor conference championships. Ader becomes the first member of the Pack to win an event during the same year’s indoor and outdoor seasons since the team joined the Mountain West. Ader is the second from Nevada to win the high jump in the Mountain West, with La Tijera Avery winning in 2013.
The 10 points from the high jump were not enough for Ader, who took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 19’ 8.25” (6.00 m) and sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.89 seconds. The 100m hurdles time moved her to eighth all-time at Nevada, and the two finishes earned her eight more points.
Ader’s 18 points were crucial to Nevada’s final score of 78.5, which landed the team in fourth place. The finish ties for the best since joining the Mountain West.
