RENO, NEV. – After a successful showing at the Mountain West Outdoor Championship, senior Nicola Ader has been named Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week.
Ader started the championships off by winning a gold medal in the heptathlon. The senior throughout the heptathlon would earn a new personal best in the 200 meter dash with her time of 25.61, and a personal best in the javelin of 42.74m. Ader would finish in first with her new personal best point total of 5,607. She also earned the team 10 points.
The next event was the long jump, this being competed right after the heptathlon. Ader would once again earn another medal. The senior’s distance of 5.91m earned her a bronze medal and scored the team six points to add to their total. This making Ader’s point total 16.
On the final day of the championships, Ader competed in the javelin throw where she saw more success. Her throw of 42.48m was not only just below her personal best, but also earned her a fourth place finish. This would earn the team five points and put the senior’s point total at 21.
Ader’s last event was the high jump, where she would once again earn another medal. Her height of 1.77m, which is just under her personal best of 1.81m, earned Ader a bronze medal in the event. This would give the team and Ader six more points, putting the senior’s point total on the day at 27.
The Wolf Pack in total in the championships would earn 55 points and finish the championships in sixth place. Almost half of their team points coming from Ader’s four event performances throughout the meet.
Ader and the Pack will wait for qualifications for the NCAA Outdoor prelims that look to compete starting on May 26.
