Men's Golf Thomas Patterson

Pack in eighth through 36 holes at Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

BOULDER, Colo. - Nevada Men's Golf opened the 2026-27 campaign Tuesday, posting a 36 hole total of 557 (-3) to finish the day in ninth place.

Jonathan Kim led the way for the Wolf Pack on the opening day with consistent play, posting two rounds of par or better. Kim posted an opening round of even-par 72, highlighted by three birdies. He lit up the front nine in the second round, making four birdies to shoot 31 on his way in. He sits in a tie for 27th place at one under-par.

Next best for the Wolf Pack was Aaron Leach at one-over par. Leach's day was a tale of two vastly different rounds, opening the day with a scorching hot six under-par 64 that included eight birdies, six of them contributing to a back nine 29. However, Leach struggled to keep bogies off the card in round two, posting a six over-par 76, birdieing holes one, 12 and 18. He sits tied for 33rd place at even-par.

Matsumoto had a slightly different day, opening with a round of three over-par 73 that included three birdies and six bogies. He turned the momentum around in the second round, making four birdies offset by two bogies to shoot a two under-par 68. Matsumoto sits in a tie for 39th place at one over-par.

Monte Chumchaivate played solid golf in the opening 36 holes, sitting at three over-par, off the back of a pair of rounds of 71 (+1) and 72 (+2). Chumchaivate had a tough start in the opening round sitting at three over through four holes, before birdieing holes one, three and four to shift the rounds' momentum. He struggled to carry over the birdie making ability he possessed in round one, only making one in the second round, offset by three bogies. He sits in a tie for 56th place at three over-par.

Rounding out the Nevada starting five was Lapassapon Heras-Gomez, in his first outing for the Pack. Heras-Gomez played very solid golf in the first round of his collegiate career, making two birdies and two bogies to post an even-par 70. He struggled to keep bogies off the card in round two, making five bogies and two birdies to post an afternoon 73. He sits tied with Chumchaivate at three over-par, tied for 56th.
