Reno, Nev. - Nevada Track and Field concluded competition at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, Saturday, finishing the championships in second place with 84 points, earning the program's highest conference finish in the Mountain West era, and the best indoor conference championship finish since winning the WAC in 2004.
The 60m hurdles final was a fast one, with Pack representative and pentathlon silver medalist
Johanna Haas running an 8.64 to place sixth and earn three points for the Pack. Haas wrapped up her conference championships earning 11 points for the Wolf Pack.
In the 400m final,
Annalies Kalma, ranked 15th nationally heading into the championships, ran a 51.84 in a hotly contested final to place second. Kalma's silver medal earned eight more points to add to Nevada's team total.
Magdalene George put in a great race in the 60m dash finals, running a 7.36 to place fourth, so close to a podium finish, but earning five points for the Wolf Pack for her finish.
Annalies Kalma saved her best individual performance for the 200m final, needing a school record for the victory, Kalma ran a 23.27 to clinch first place. Kalma took home eighteen points individually for the Pack on Saturday, clinching the Pack's first Mountain West gold at the indoor championships since 2024.
In the triple jump,
Meekness Dogonyaro broke her own indoor school record en route to winning silver. Dogonyaro's second place jump of 13.19m is her best of the season by almost half a meter. Yesterday's long jump silver medalist
Kaja Maltaric also put on a career best display in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 12.52m, moving into number six all-time. The duo earned twelve points towards the Pack's team total.
The final event of the championships was the 4x400m relay with
Malena Galvan,
Kylee Parsons,
Halyn Senegal and
Annalies Kalma the team for the Pack. The Pack got off to a great start led by Galvan and Parsons sitting in third through the first two legs, then
Halyn Senegal took charge of the baton, running splits of 24.90 and 28.73 to move the Pack into second place.
Annalies Kalma ran strongly as the anchor running a 52.11 to secure second spot. Running a 3:38.40, the Pack relay team placed second earning eight points towards the team total, cementing second place in the team standings.
The Pack earned valuable Silver State Series points finishing eight positions ahead of our southern state rivals.
