Reno, Nev. - Nevada Track and Field are set to host the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships Thursday, February 26th through Saturday, February 28th at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, 11:30 a.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

This meet is the first time Nevada has hosted a conference indoor championship meet since holding the WAC Championships in both 2001 and 2002. The last time Nevada hosted a Mountain West championship event in any sport was 2019, when the baseball tournament was held at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.

At last year's indoor championships the Pack placed ninth with 30 points. The highlight of the meet came from now junior, sprinter Magdalene George, who earned the first two Mountain West medals of her career, placing 3rd in both the 60m (7.32) and the 200m (23.32), with the latter resetting her own school record. Annalies Kalma added a strong performance in the 400m final, placing 5th in a personal‑best 53.41. In the triple jump, Meekness Dogonyaro finished just one spot off the podium in 4th with a jump of 12.97m, while freshman Kaja Maltaric placed 12th.

This year the Pack enters the Championships with athletes ranked top 10 in the Mountain West in 14 events. Annalies Kalma heads into the championships ranked first in the 200m and second in the conference, as well as 15th in the nation in the 400m. Johanna Haas also sits first in the conference for the pentathlon, sitting third in Pack history for total points following her 3934 point total at the Wolf Pack Classic. Haas also sits fifth in the 60 meter hurdles. Following her dual medal haul at last year's championships, Maggie George sits fifth in the 60m dash and sixth in the 200m heading into the championships.

In the jumps, Nevada has six top ten athletes. In triple jump, Meekness Dogonyaro sits second and Kaja Maltaric eighth. Maltaric also ranks third in the long jump, with Alma Kathan just behind in fifth. The Pack has Hazel Gaspaire ranked fifth in the high jump, with Stina Larsson in ninth. The Pack also ranks fourth in the 4x400m relay and fifth in the distance medley relay. Evidently, lots of medal hopefuls for the Pack this week.
