Pack holds off Utah State for 80-77 win at Lawlor

RENO, Nev. - Nevada (18-9; 10-6 MW) pulled out an 80-77 win against Utah State (23-4; 13-3 MW) in Lawlor Events Center on Saturday night.

With four players in the double digits, the Pack came out on top after shooting 51 percent from the field, 53 percent from beyond the arc, and 74 percent from the line.

Corey Camper Jr. led the offense with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Camper Jr. was followed by Elijah Price with a double-double (10 points and 12 rebounds), Tayshawn Comer (12 points and seven assists), and Kaleb Lowery (11 points and five rebounds).

On the defense side, Price and Joel Armotrading made their impact with three blocks apiece. The Pack was able to hold the Aggies to 40 percent from the field, 44 percent from the three-point line, and 63 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pack won the paint battle, 30-20, and fast-break points, 20-14.

First Half:
The Aggies started off strong, putting up a 10-4 lead.

Nevada cut the deficit to 15-13 to continue in the game.

A made jumper by Tyler Rolison tied the game 15-15, while a three-pointer from Corey Camper Jr. gave the Pack the first lead of the game.  

Utah State regained its lead on a three-point shot by MJ Collins, 27-26.

Nevada tied the game, 30-30, on a made free throw by Elijah Price.

The Aggies took control of the game to close the half with a 40-38 lead.

Second Half:
Utah State continued to control the game as they extended their lead early to 52-45 on back-to-back three's from Drake Allen.

Nevada continued to fight, cutting the deficit to 58-54 as they went to a media timeout.

After being down eight points, the Pack continued to fight as Kaleb Lowery hit back-to-back layups to tie the game 71-71.

Corey Camper Jr. hit a three-pointer to put the Pack ahead 74-73 after a layup made by Mason Falslev.

The Pack gained control of the game, and with key free throws made by Camper Jr. and Vaughn Weems, Nevada solidified an 80-77 win against Utah State.

Up Next:
The Pack continues to play at home, as they are set to face the New Mexico Lobos on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m.
