Nevada battles on day two of The Prestige

Palm Springs, Calif. - Nevada Men's Golf continued play at The Prestige, Tuesday, for round two. The team started very hot on the day but struggled to maintain momentum on the back nine, staying in 22nd place.

Ben Ortwein posted the best round of the day for the Wolf Pack, shooting a three over-par 74. Ortwein started very hot, four under through seven holes, but didn't make a birdie for the rest of the day and struggled to keep bogies off the card. Ortwein moved up 20 spots in round two and will look to make a final push tomorrow.

Jonathan Kim was the next best round two for the Pack, posting a five over-par 76. Kim's round was highlighted by two birdies and he will look for a strong final day tomorrow. Liam Gobin posted the Pack's third counting round, a seven over-par 78. Gobin played very solid first ten holes, making five birdies and no bogies, but struggled late in the round.

Riki Matsumoto rounded out the Pack's counting scores, posting an eight over-par 79 in round two. Matsumoto failed to find his consistency from round one, making just one birdie on the day and struggling to keep bogies off the card. The freshman will look for a strong round tomorrow to make a push up the leaderboard, he sits in 66th.

Aaron Leach rounded out the starting five scores, posting a round two 85 (+14), making one birdie on the day.

Out at Terra Lago for the individual event, Monte Chumchaivate shot a second round 76 (+4) to sit five over-par for the tournament and in a tie for 14th.

The Pack will return tomorrow for the final round, looking to make a push back towards the middle of the leaderboard.
