RENO, Nev. -Â Seven Wolf Pack players earned eight selections to the 2025 Phil Steele Preseason All-Mountain West Teams Wednesday.
Marcus Bellon earned two spots on the Second Team, at wide receiver and punt returner, and was joined by offensive lineman
Josh Grabowski. Defensive lineman
Nelson Ropati was one of three selections to the third-team defense, joined by Nevada newcomers
Nahji Logan at linebacker and
Murvin Kenion III at safety.
Being named to the Fourth Team were returning tight end
Jace Henry and another 2025 newcomer in cornerback
AJ Odums.
Bellon had a big debut season for Nevada in 2024, demonstrating his versatility by finishing third on the team in receptions (39) and receiving yards (522), and tying for second in touchdown catches (four) while rushing for 37 yards on nine carries. The Truckee native also completed 1-of-2 passes, with the completion going for 44 yards and a touchdown at Boise State. A 2022 All-C-USA Honorable Mention on special teams who averaged nearly six yards per punt return and took one for a touchdown while with UTEP, Bellon was already avoided by opponents in his debut Wolf Pack season, averaging 8.2 yards over just nine returns with a long of 32.
Grabowski became one of the anchors of The Union by the end of the 2024 campaign. He appeared in 12 games, making seven starts, and even filled in as a tight end on jumbo packages.
Ropati quickly earned playing time in his first season at Nevada in 2024, appearing in all 13 games with four starts. The transfer from City College of San Francisco, where he was voted to the All-Bay 6 First Team in 2023, finished his first Wolf Pack campaign with 19 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, and made a season-high six tackles in the Oct. 12 win over Oregon State.
Henry, a graduate transfer from Dartmouth in 2024, had a very promising campaign cut short due to injury last Sept. 14 at Minnesota. The big tight end had already made seven grabs for 49 yards and two touchdowns before suffering his injury in the fourth game. Henry's impact was also vital to the Wolf Pack's run-blocking, as the team rushed for two of its top-four game totals on the season (214 yards at Troy, 227 yards against Georgia Southern) with him in the lineup.
Three Nevada newcomers for 2025 already earned preseason recognition. Kenion comes to Reno after stops at Sacramento State (2024), Idaho (2022-23), and City College of San Francisco (2021). Last season for the Hornets, he was one of just two defensive players to start all 12 games, finishing with 51 tackles, two interceptions, nine passes defended, and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Over his two seasons at Idaho, he made four interceptions and broke up 20 passes.
Logan appeared in four games before redshirting the 2024 season at Indiana. Prior to that, he played four seasons (2020-23) at UMASS, appearing in 39 games and making 128 tackles with 8.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks. Logan had one of his top seasons for the Minutemen in 2023, making 60 tackles, and had 4.5 tackles-for-loss in 2022.
Odums returns to the Mountain West in 2025, having previously played for New Mexico from 2021-22. The Houston native played 18 games for the Lobos, racking up 57 tackles (34 solo) with 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack, five pass breakups and an interception. From 2023-24 he played at UTEP, recording an interception with 12 pass breakups and 51 tackles over 16 games all of which he started. Last season, Odums started UTEP's first four games at cornerback before utilizing his redshirt.
Nevada opens the 2025 campaign Saturday, Aug. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at Penn State, on CBS. The Pack returns to Reno to host its first two contests at Mackay Stadium on back-to-back Saturdays, taking on Sacramento State Sept. 6 and Middle Tennessee Sept. 13.
