RENO, Nev. - Nevada (31-20, 17-10 MW), atop the Mountain West standings by a game, heads to San José State for the final three-game series of the season. Among the various scenarios to clinch at least a share of its fourth Mountain West regular-season title, the most direct route is for the Wolf Pack to get two wins against the Spartans.

The series against the Spartans opens Thursday at 6:05 p.m. and continues Friday at 6:05 p.m. with Saturday's finale set for 1:05 p.m. All three contests will be streamed online on the Mountain West Network and MW App, and on the radio on KPLY 630 AM with Zak Basch on the call.

CLOSING IN ON THE MOUNTAIN WEST TITLE
Nevada came out of the penultimate weekend of conference play up a game on Fresno State and New Mexico in the race for the Mountain West regular-season title and No. 1 seed at May 21-24's Mountain West Championship in Mesa, Ariz.

There are only two scenarios in which the Wolf Pack would NOT clinch at least a share of the title and the No. 1 seed:

1) Nevada is swept by San José State

2) Nevada goes 1-2 against the Spartans, and the Fresno State at New Mexico series ends in a sweep.

Nevada has already secured a top-two seed at the conference tournament, and thus a bye into the four-team, double-elimination portion which begins May 22.

ABOUT SAN JOSÉ STATE
San José State (25-26, 12-15 MW) will be fighting to hold its top-six spot and place at the Mountain West Championship this weekend. The Spartans are tied for fifth at 12-15, one game ahead of 11-16 San Diego State and Washington State, who play each other this weekend.

Alex Fernandes leads the Spartans with a .359 batting average and 65 hits, while Jeriah Lewis is the top power guy with team bests of 10 homers and 37 RBIs.

On the hill, Win Scott is 4-4 with 51 strikeouts in the rotation, while Nolan George is the top reliever, going 3-3 with two saves and 47 strikeouts over 17 appearances.
